Change Your Driving Habits

Changing your driving habits is the single biggest thing you can do in order to save gas. If you want to increase your mileage and save money at the pump then you need to pay attention.

Jackrabbit starts are extremely harmful to your gas mileage. This is because the car is so hard to move from a start that it uses the most amount of energy at this time. The more energy needed the more gas is burned. The more gas is burned, the more you have to spend at the gas station.

Driving with Excess weight is another way to throw money down the drain. If you have tons of junk in your trunk then you need to get rid of it. There's no point of carrying beach chairs if your not going to the beach!

Get a tune up and you can see a world of difference. If its been a while since your car was last serviced, then you could be wasting a ton of gas. If your car isn't in peak shape then it will require more gas to push the car since it is losing power.

Check your tires to make sure they are properly inflated. If your tires are under or over inflated, not only can they pop under high speed and create unsafe driving conditions, but they can also rob you of precious gas mileage. Always check your tire pressure to ensure they are at the optimal amount of air. You can determine the proper amount by looking in the drivers side door jamb, the operators manual, or the tire sidewall.

If you follow these simple tips you can save gas and as a result save money. And isn't that what its all about??
